Overview:
Many entities outsource services or functions to service organisations, including outsourcing of the payroll or tax compliance functions. Some of the services provided by service organisations may be integral to the entity’s business operations, but not all services provided are relevant to the audit. It is important for the auditor to understand the services provided by service organisations, the controls that the entity have in place over work performed by service organisations, the relevance thereof to the audit and the work effort required in the specific circumstances.
