IESBA Consults on Collective Investment Vehicles and Pension Funds – Auditor Independence
The International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) has issued, for public comment, a Consultation Paper: Collective Investment Vehicles and Pension Funds – Auditor Independence, available on: https://www.irba.co.za/guidance-to-ras/technical-guidance-for-auditors/exposure-drafts-and-comment-letters
The paper seeks views on whether revisions to the IESBA’s International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, including International Independence Standards (IESBA Code) are necessary to address the independence of auditors when they audit the Collective Investment Vehicles and Pension Funds, collectively referred to as Investment Schemes.
The Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA) adopted the IESBA Code, and its Committee for Auditor Ethics will consider any anticipated revisions to the IESBA Code for incorporation into the IRBA Code of Professional Conduct for Registered Auditors (Revised November 2024).
Comments regarding the paper, in Word and PDF formats, should be sent to standards@irba.co.za by 2 June 2025.
Alternatively, comments may be submitted directly to the IESBA before 30 June 2025 through its website, available on: https://www.ethicsboard.org/publications/collective-investment-vehicles-and-pension-funds
The Consultation Paper in PDF format may be downloaded from the IRBA website, available on: https://www.irba.co.za/guidance-to-ras/technical-guidance-for-auditors/exposure-drafts-and-comment-letters
